CGPA Calc is a small, independent site built to solve one specific problem: Indian university grading systems use several genuinely different CGPA, SGPA, and percentage conversion formulas, and most calculators online only implement one of them, usually without saying which.
How we source our formulas
Every formula on this site (AICTE’s ×9.5 standard, VTU’s ×10, Mumbai University’s linear (×7.1)+11, and the others) is documented on its calculator page along with a plain-language note on where it applies. We update formulas when a university publishes a change. For example, Mumbai University withdrew its SGPA-to-percentage conversion in January 2026, and that’s reflected on the relevant calculator page.
Where a university’s own document is publicly reachable we link to it directly, and where it isn’t we name the source in the text rather than linking to a page we can’t verify. SPPU’s banded conversion, for instance, comes from Circular No. 332-2020 and is implemented band by band rather than as a single multiplier, because no single multiplier reproduces it.
How we keep the numbers consistent
Every figure published on this site (the worked examples in the prose, the conversion tables, the numbers inside the diagrams) is computed from one shared set of formulas, not typed in by hand. That is a deliberate constraint: hand-entered figures drift out of step with the calculators as soon as a formula is corrected, and a page that contradicts its own calculator is worse than one with fewer examples.
The same rule applies to illustrations. A diagram whose numbers don’t match the formulas is not published, even if it’s already been produced.
What this site is not
These calculators produce estimates for planning purposes. They are not a substitute for an official conversion certificate from your university’s examination cell, which is what you should submit for admissions, scholarship, or job applications that require a converted figure. Every calculator on this site says this directly next to its result.
Questions or corrections
If you spot a formula that’s out of date or incorrect for your university, contact us. Corrections from students who’ve verified their own university’s current circular are exactly the kind of feedback that keeps this site accurate.
The most useful report names the university, the formula the page currently uses, and the circular or examination-cell page that supersedes it. With that we can check the source and correct the calculator, the tables and the worked examples together, since all three read from the same figures.
